Finalist at Gotham Week (formally IFP)

In 2020, I had the privilege of landing a finalist position at Gotham Week as an Audible Audio Hub Presenter for Bloomer Girls: The First Women of Baseball.

The Gotham Week Project Market & Expo - a centerpiece of the annual film and media calendar - takes place in Brooklyn every fall season. It's the nation's oldest and largest curated marketplace for film and TV creators. 2020 was the first year they included Audio!

Unfortunately in 2020, during the pandemic, we had to do everything on Zoom :( But, it was still extradorinary & awesome!

Key Takeaways

1. My pitch group intro meeting included the actor Raúl Esparza, who played ADA Rafael Barba on Law & Order: SVU!

2. As a small content creator from Cleveland, I consider myself an "industry outsider." So it really was an amazing experience to have the opportunity (and access!) to pitch MRC Entertainment, Anonymous Content, VP of Originals for Audible and many more high caliber names in Hollywood

3. In addition to pitching top industry executives, I also had access to epic roundtable discussions. My favorite was David Blum, former editor-in-chief of Audible Original Publishing and the man responsible for picking up Neil Gaiman's The Sandman (after being turned down by the streaming giants). I got the behind-the-scenes take on everything from budget costs, music direction and even casting James McAvoy.

Gotham Week was an incredible experience and one that definitely put a feather in my audio cap!
